    National Textile University is envisioned to develop the Textile Industry and Human Resources of Pakistan and make Pakistan an active player in the world economy. As NTU is committed to information revolution in every aspect of its activities, so the need is to start the new programs (BS and MS) in a very emerging discipline of applied  sciences; computer sciences.

    The objectives of the programs are to;

    1. Impart the quality education in the field of Computer Sciences
    2. Provide research and development opportunities in Information Technology
    3. Produce the quality Human Capital Base to meet the challenges of the future
    4. Develop the professionals who will instill the Value to the Pakistan Economy

    We have already established a computer center which is equipped with all sort of sophisticated and modern accessories as switches, routers, multimedia along with massive lab of 200 branded computers. It is well known that computer center will serve to the all departments with respect to the computer subjects. NTU is mainly serving at Pakistan level with respect to Textile Degree Programs, so there is a need to do more in other technologies like computer sciences i.e.  Relevant to industry and having a massive scope to serve the economy of Pakistan.

    At present we are having an opportunity to start new Program to serve Faisalabad Region and its vicinities by offering four years bachelor degree (Hons) in computer sciences (BSCS) with specialization in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Database Management System (DBMS) and Networking. It will hopefully serve in tremendous way and cause of exploring the new horizons in research and development in the field of Computer Sciences.

    Having this, the university can generate enough revenue to meet the expenses of the newly purposed department of computer sciences even with the affordable fee for students, as compared to the other universities/institutes.

    There are only two public sector universities/institutes, in Faisalabad, are offering the same degree program with a limited availably of seats. As the students need to qualify their degrees with the good brand name and preferably from Public Sector University.  Because the of the limited availability of seats, the students of the Faisalabad Division and its vicinity have to go Lahore, Multan and Islamabad for qualifying this specific degree program.

    By providing the quality education to the students, we can serve them and facilitate them in their own area. Ultimately the purpose of the NTU i.e. “INNOVATE AND LEAD” will be accomplished.

    We also hope this foundation stone of initiating the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Science will be a kick start to offer Advanced Programs PhD Classes in future.
